Students in Forensic Science have been learning about the role that DNA plays in Criminal Investigations. They have learnt that DNA contains genetic information that is located in the nucleus of cells, as well as how DNA collected from a crime scene can either link a suspect to the evidence or eliminate a suspect.

The aim of the practical activity was to extract strands of DNA from split pea cells. In order to successfully obtain the DNA strands our students had to be methodical in the procedure.
