On Monday 24 May, the Girls and Boys Intermediate Futsal teams travel to Albert Park to take on other SACCSS Colleges in the return to Futsal for 2021. Both teams had strong line ups and were confident of competing well across the day.

The Girls team had a lot to live up to in winning the shield in 2018 and 2019 with the pause due to lockdowns last year. Mr Ray, as coach this year, was keen to uphold the strength of the team and continue on a good run. They started well with good wins against Marymede and Emmanuel College before a few tough games against CRC North Keilor and the final group game against St Monicas. Both of these ended in wins to our girls and they went into the final against St Monicas undefeated and ready to battle it out for the shield. Our girls played exceptionally well and controlled the match ending up with a winning score line of 5 goals to 2.

Top scorers were Abbi Pavlinusic with an astounding 18 goals across the day and Nicole Santos with 8. Congratulations also to Nicole Santos in being awarded the best player in the Final.

Congratulations to all of the Girls and Mr Ray on your amazing efforts across the day.

The Boys also had a very strong line up selected and trained by Ms Petko. The boys also started well with comfortable wins against Salesian and Antonine College before facing the toughest challenge in Emmanuel College. The game was close throughout, ending in a 3 all draw and a preview of the final to come later. After winning the final 2 matches, the final was a rematch against Emmanuel with both teams keen to make up for the missed opportunity earlier. Our boys played exceptionally well, leading from the outset and outlasted Emmanuel to finish with a 3 – 1 win.

Well done to Brayden Portelli for being awarded the best player in the Final.

Congratulations to all of the Boys and Ms Petko for winning the shield and being promoted to division 1 for 2022.
