Recently, the Church celebrated Pentecost, one of the most significant moments in our Christian faith, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, empowering them with courage, wisdom and conviction to proclaim the Good News to the world. As we reflect on this sacred event, we are reminded of the words from Acts 1:8:
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses."
This call to be witnesses of Christ remains alive and active within our College community today.
Last Sunday, we celebrated the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, a central mystery of our Catholic faith. This feast invites us to contemplate the unity of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three persons united in one divine nature. The Trinity reveals the perfect love, relationship and communion that exists within God and calls each of us to deepen our relationship with Him and with one another.
One powerful expression of this love within our community is our flourishing partnership with our sister school, St Francis Kizinga in Uganda. Through the remarkable generosity of our families and staff, we have now assisted in the construction of six classrooms and continue to support the school's breakfast feeding program, ensuring students begin each day nourished and ready to learn. More recently, we have contributed towards the purchase of desks and chairs for two newly completed classroom blocks. In addition, work is currently underway on the construction of a new administration building. This partnership continues to exemplify faith in action and reflects our College motto, Live Fully, Act Justly.
It has been another busy and rewarding term across the College, with students engaging in a broad range of academic, wellbeing, faith and co-curricular opportunities. Highlights have included:
• Year 7 Premier League and SACCSS sporting events
• The Ignite Program for Years 8 and 9
• Year 10 Faith Formation Day
• A range of incursions, excursions and guest speakers
• Social justice and fundraising initiatives
• Rehearsals for the College Musical
• Project 9 learning experiences
• Year 9 and 10 subject selection processes
In addition to these experiences, many students have continued to engage enthusiastically in the wide range of clubs, groups and leadership opportunities available across the College. Likewise, preparations for our 2026 College Musical, The Little Mermaid, are well underway, with students and staff dedicating countless hours to rehearsals. The Musical continues to be a wonderful celebration of creativity, teamwork and the diverse talents that make our College community so special.
The message of Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary people to do extraordinary things. As a College community, we are called not simply to learn and achieve, but to use our gifts in service of others and to be a force for good in the world. Whether it is through our learning, faith formation, sporting pursuits, social justice initiatives, participation in clubs and groups, or the dedication and creativity being displayed in rehearsals for The Little Mermaid, students are continually finding opportunities to develop their talents and contribute positively to our community.
Guided by faith, strengthened by our relationships and inspired by the example of Christ, may we continue to embrace every opportunity to grow, serve and lead. In doing so, we bring our College motto to life each day, striving to Live Fully, Act Justly in all that we do.
