The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, making it a wonderful time to deepen our relationship with Christ through this rich and enduring devotion. Rooted in Scripture, devotion to the Sacred Heart reflects upon the heart of Christ that was pierced on the Cross, from whose side flowed blood and water. It reminds us of Jesus’ invitation to draw close to Him and experience the depth of His love.

For our community, the high school years can often feel marked by constant pressure, particularly as we approach the semester examination period. Added to this is the continual noise and busyness that can fill our daily lives. The Sacred Heart offers something different: rest in Christ’s gentleness, compassion, and love. Jesus Himself invites us, “Learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart” (Mt 11:29).

This message is especially important because devotion to the Sacred Heart developed, in part, as a response to views of God that emphasised severity over mercy. Through this devotion, the Church reminds us of God’s boundless love and calls us to place our trust in His infinite mercy.

As we journey through this month, may we remember that God’s love remains constant and faithful, even when our circumstances change, family life is challenging, or we face uncertainty about the future.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in You.
