On Tuesday July 14, Arsema, Ava and Sophie represented the College in the finals of the Dante Alighieri Italian Poetry Competition.
At the University of Melbourne, our students completed among the top 150 students in Victoria and were required to recite their poem to the judges. After an agonising wait, the judges selected the top students at each year level and invited them back to recite their poem again so that the winners could be selected.
We are so proud of our finalists for their depth of talent, passion, and dedication demonstrated in representing the College.
It has since been announced that Sophie Rodriguez finished in joint first place at year 9 amongst hundreds of year 9 students who competed Victoria wide. Sophie’s achievements will be recognised at an awards ceremony facilitated by the Dante Alighieri Society Melbourne later in the year.
Congratulations to our finalists for their excellence in reciting Italian poetry and a special congratulations to Sophie for her win!
