On Wednesday September 9, four year 8 and 9 Chess Club students participated in the Secondary Open Chess Regional State Final at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School against one hundred and thirty four students from around Victoria.

In order to qualify for this event, students had to finish amongst the top students at the Northern Star Chess Tournament and SACCSS Chess Tournament which took place earlier in the year.

Playing 7 games throughout the day, students competitively tested their skill and strategy against opponents of execeptional Chess ability resulting in the College finishing in fourteenth place on the leaderboard amongst twenty six schools.

Congratulations to Abel, Joshua, James and Nathaniel for their success in representing the College and their outstanding Chess skills!
